The Top 5 coolest things to do in Aberdeen this weekend

View over Aberdeen

Apart from having fun at Bedlam Paintball Aberdeen yeah?

Our Bedlam Paintball Aberdeen site is hands down one of our most popular, for folks all over the north and east Scotland; and it’s managed by some of the most memorable characters in the Bedlam team for sure! Most people that visit usually end up heading to Aberdeen for a bite to eat or whatever afterwards, so here’s our salute to all things Aberdeen – hopefully there are a few things on this list to get your teeth into during the hols.

North East Falconry Centre

Ran by old hands in the business, this is the place for a real hands-on experience of the birds of prey that soar over the Aberdeenshire countryside. Don’t expect any tired clichés or Disney-esque themes and props at this place, just exciting demonstrations from all manner of hawks, eagles, owls and more. The best bit is that it’s open to all ages and, if you’re lucky, you might just catch some bird of prey training in action.

Fettercairn Distillery

Probably one for our slightly more mature gamers. On the go since 1824, this typical white-washed traditional distillery takes a hell of a lot of the Cairngorms finest water and turns it into over 1.5 million litres of amber nectar every year. Wow. If you’re game, book a wee tour and you’ll probably get a wee dram at the end too: if you’re old enough.

Gorge walking with AdventureFirst

These guys offer a slightly different take on traditional gorge walking – they do along the coast! Dubbed ‘coasteering’, let these pros guide you and your team through rock pools, jumps, scrambles and sea caves; complete with wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet. They’ve got years of experience and, judging by the photos, they’re not afraid of having a good time! Our kind of day out for sure!

Aberdeen Country Fair

Don’t be put off by the name – this is essentially a giant farmers market, which means one thing: lots and lots of tasty food. The best bit is Aberdeen Country Fair is ran and catered for by farmers and producers from all over Aberdeenshire and Highlands, meaning you’re pretty much going to get the very best of Scottish food all in one place – and not overpriced either. Right in the heart of the city (just off Union Street), it’s worth popping along for the Aberdeen Angus beef alone.

The Tunnels

No, not another ‘coasteering’ venture, but instead Aberdeen’s premier music venue. When I say premier I mean dingy, black walls, cheap pints and great music: just what you want from any venue worth its salt. This place gets just the right mix of touring and locals acts, as well as a bunch of club nights and not a bad bar for an evening lounge too. The 20th August sees T FEST kicking off – an all-dayer packed with local and Scottish bands.
